Liz Hagerty (She/Her)
MSW, RSW
Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor
Location: Online
My name is Liz Hagerty (she/her) and I am a therapist specializing in counselling youth and adults. I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of British Columbia and am registered with the BC College of Social Workers (#11384). I currently live in Vancouver, BC and work with clients online.
Over the past 10 years, I have been working with children, youth, young adults and families in a variety of settings including government, post-secondary, health care and community agencies. In my work I have supported people from diverse backgrounds with a variety of issues including: stress, worry, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family and relationship difficulties, life transitions and personal exploration and growth. I also currently work full-time as an Instructor in Douglas College’s Bachelor of Social Work program.
I approach therapy from a client-centred and strengths-based perspective, working toward the goal of helping you thrive in your life. I believe everyone brings inherent strengths to therapy that serve as the foundation for growth and change. In our work together, I can help you identify these inner resources and offer tools and skills to build upon them so you can reach your goals and make meaningful advances in your life.

For me, being a therapist was something I knew I wanted to do from a young age. I have always been interested in human behavior and exploring why we do what we do. Supporting those around me and providing a safe space for them to express their thoughts and feelings is something that I get joy and fulfillment from and have been naturally drawn to. Being able to be a part of someone’s journey is something that I appreciate on a daily basis, being invited into stranger’s lives and witnessing the inner strengths that people are able to harness to move through difficult and painful situations, is an honour for me.
