Clinical Supervision

Offered by Kristen Hamilton-Block, MA RCC-ACS and Liz Hagerty, MSW RSW.

Whether you’re an experienced therapist, a new graduate, or a student seeking additional support, we all benefit from consultation to ensure we’re on the right path. Clinical Supervision is offered by Kristen Hamilton-Block, an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and Liz Hagerty, a Registered Social Worker who works with clients and supervisees while also teaching in the Bachelor of Social Work program at Douglas College.

Our Supervision Approach
Our supervision style is relational, developmental, and experiential. Building strong rapport with our supervisees is central to our approach, just as it is with our clients. Kristen’s approach is informed by the theories she uses in practice, including Person-Centered Therapy, AEDP, EMDR, and EFT. Liz’s approach aligns more closely with CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

Tailored to Your Needs
We aim to make supervision a dynamic and collaborative process that responds to the unique needs of each supervisee. Every supervisee brings their own experiences, knowledge, and skills, which is why we strive to tailor our approach to suit individual learning styles and professional development.

We use various tools in supervision to explore the therapist’s personal process and how they show up for clients. These tools may include genograms, attachment styles, and enneagram types. The structure of supervision sessions depends on your level of knowledge and learning preferences.

Exploring Personal Reactions
In supervision, we may explore personal reactions to client work or the supervision process itself. When strong personal reactions arise, we may encourage you to process these further with your own personal therapist, ensuring that you receive the support you need to grow as both a therapist and a person.
